Festival season has reached South Florida’s shores. This
weekend, the St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in West Palm Beach will be
hosting the 38th Annual Greek Festival, open to anyone looking to get a fix of feta cheese and folk
dance.
The festival will feature artwork, jewelry, Greek cuisine and
performances. The youth ministry will dance in traditional garb alongside the Heart of Greece dance
troupe, and for those who enjoy a hearty lamb shank, St. Catherine has
“the best around,” according to a church representative. While some
food is ordered from local Greek bakeries, most dishes are cooked on
site by church staff and chefs.
The church claims to have received calls about the festival from
“Opa!” enthusiasts in the area for weeks. As a result, festival
organizers have made entry free on Friday between noon and 4 p.m. A
$3 donation will be required for entry for attendees over 12
years old at other times.
The festival runs from noon to 11 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22; and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
St. Catherine is located at 110 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach, and
parking will be available in the church’s lot and along Flagler Drive.
