Last week, the festival-going public commenced drooling for perhaps the only decent summer music gathering by announcing the dates — July 15 through 17 at Chicago’s Union Park — for the Pitchfork Music Festival. Today, the initial lineup is unfurled for all to see and critique.
At $110 for a three-day pass, this is no budget breaker. Sure, the Strokes aren’t playing it, but mid-July is an awful time of year to wear skinny jeans anyhow. Check out the bands announced so far broken up by day.
Friday, July 15:
— Animal Collective
— James Blake
— Das Racist
— Curren$y
Saturday, July 16:
— Fleet Foxes
— The Dismemberment Plan
— Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti
— Woods
— Sun Airway
— Kylesa
Sunday, July 17:
— TV on the Radio
— Cut Copy
— Deerhunter
— Destroyer
— OFWGKTA
— Yuck
Pitchfork kindly points out that ticket-buyers should be off to the races at 1 p.m. ET today, and that, “last year, three-day passes sold out in five days, so don’t put it off.” Get thee to pitchforkmusicfestival.com.
