No. 15: Singapore Noodles from Toa Toa
Despite its name, Singapore noodles do not hail from Singapore. Rather, these stir-fried
rice noodles are one of the many dim sum options at Chinese restaurant
Toa Toa in Sunrise. The platter is a little bigger than most dim sum
offerings, making it a fun dish to share at just $10. What it tastes
like is a curry-infused noodle version of fried rice. Fat, succulent
shrimp and strips of chewy red pork are stir-fried along with bean
sprouts, onions, bell pepper, and egg. Added to that is a heaping dose
of spicy curry powder. Like all great noodle dishes, it’s fun to slurp
up in big strands, sipping hot tea between bites to calm the spice. And
it pairs great with Toa Toa’s other dim sum, a collection of sticky
buns, dumplings, sauteed greens, skewered beef, and more.
