Cibo Matto’s brief, but charming run filled the world with the finest Japanese lounge pop about delightful edible creations. With only two full-length albums, 1996’s Viva! La Woman and 1999’s Stereo * Type A, Yuka Honda and Miho Hatori still managed to corner the enticing market before breaking up in 2001. Even Weird Al Yankovic only occasionally saluted food with such reverence.

With the recent announcement via the duo’s new website that Cibo Matto is reforming to record new material scheduled for release in 2012, and for the “YEAH BASICALLY CIBO MATTO” U.S. tour is coming in June and July, it’s time to celebrate. Knowing what we know about the Cibo way, it’s gonna involve a wild feast that might have you saying “My weight is 300 pounds” by the end. We have the menu with accompanying songs below.

Beverage:
Have a glass of “Sugar Water” to set your tastebuds in harmony.

Appetizer:

As is a trend, Cibo Matto is not super fond of those useful YouTube videos that would allow for boiled “Artichoke” or an “Apple” turnover. We’ll have to settle for “Beef Jerky” here.
