Not likely that Coldplay’s choice of “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” as a title of their comeback single will win over Jon Pareles. Still, for the band that has a propensity to be as popular as they are for not worrying about fussy critics, this is likely to keep Chris Martin’s brand intact.
All of the anthemic Brian Eno-isms are still intact here for this upbeat, cross-cultural ode to listening to music really loud. Now, what are Martin’s “rebel songs” anyhow?
