It’s 1977, and the world of music is changing fast. Disco is dying and the defiant new attitude of punk is rising to replace it. Set against this changing of the musical guard, Rooms follows Monica, an ambitious singer-songwriter, and Ian, a hard-driving rocker, as their romantic and creative partnership gets put to the test. Seeking rock ‘n’ roll fame, the couple moves from their native Glasgow to London and New York, encountering challenges — alcoholism, bulimia, an unplanned pregnancy — along the way as they try to balance their ambitions and their personal happiness. Written by Paul Scott Goodman (Bright Lights, Big City), this Drama Desk Award-nominated musical is now presented in a special concert production by Fort Lauderdale’s Outré Theatre Company.
